그대는 죽음의 비밀을 알고 싶어 하는군요.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
하지만 죽음을 삶의 한가운데서 찾지 않는다면 어떻게 죽음의 의미를 발견할 수 있을까요?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light
낮이면 눈이 먼 밤눈 부엉이가 빛의 신비를 드러낼 순 없습니다.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
그대 진정 죽음의 본질을 보려 한다면 가슴 활짝 열어 제치고 살아 있는 것들을 맞이하세요.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one
시내와 바다가 하나이듯 삶과 죽음은 하나인 것.
For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
죽음이란 무엇일까요? 바람 앞에 벌고 벗고 서서 햇빛 속으로 녹아드는 것 아니겠어요?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God uncruberd?
숨이 멎는다는 건 쉬지 않는 호흡의 조수에서 자유로워지는 것 아니겠어요? 그리하여 높이 높이 날아오르고 부풀려져선 어떤 번민도 없는 신을 만나는 것 아니겠어요?
Only when you drink from the river of silence you need sing.
오직 침묵의 강물을 마실 때에야 그대, 진정 노래할 수 있습니다.
And you reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
산의 정상에 이르렀을 때야 그대 비로소 산 오르기를 시작할 수 있겠지요.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
그리하여 땅이 그대의 사지를 거두어 갈 때면 그대, 진실로 춤출 수 있겠지요.
